"Time to die!"

Oh yeah--it rained heavily here yesterday. What with the crowded streets and the traffic and the generally grittiness of the city I felt like I was in Blade Runner. Isn't it set in some futuristic SF anyway?

FYC

Boo yeah the Utes won too. Dipshits on ESPN of course don't credit the Utes at all, but claim that it was all because of Oklahoma's failures. Fuck you comentators.

Busy

I've been busy with the conference so I didn't really take any pictures on Thursday or Friday. Today, however, I went on a long walk all the way up to the wharves and then up and over Nob Hill. I took some pictures, but of course can't really upload them anywhere.

Meeting up with conference folks in a bit for a last conference bash.

Slightly less thick than a brick

Ok, so I found that handy iPhoto has a web-page making feature, and can post up my China Town excursion afterall. I was thinking that I could use DreamWeaver[TM (or they threaten lawsuits)] to do that, but it wants me to buy Flash, and I ain't about to do that. Thank Jebus for free things--well, thank Jebus for things that come bundled with your handy-dandy laptop. Anyway the tour was fun. The conference starts in earnest tomorrow, so I'll just have boring conference pictures that I won't bother anyone with.

The reason, if you were wondering, why I don't post on the regular blog is because I have a finicky program that runs off my home computer and its post-at-a-distance-feature refuses to work right now. Seems to be the story of my situation: flickr is overloaded, audioblogger won't work, regular system is quirky, and I have to delete files to upload the China Town excursion. That's right, Samba and Tickle-me Brigham are gone for now, but that's the breaks, toots.

Last night I heard the quintessential big-city lone trumpeter from my open air-shaft window. He or she only played for a short time, but it made me pine for a seedy bar where I could drink gin and smoke. Today I found that a faux-seedy blues bar is right down the street from me above a Jack-in-the-Box[TM]. I'm going to go there and drink some gin and smoke too much. I won't be taking pictures.

Blues. Gin. Smoke.[TM]

Tomorrow I work.

Enjoy the pictures.

Flickr goes to hell

Well I fucked up by not realizing that flickr has an upload limit for images, so no more from San Francisco for now. audioblogger.com also seems to have some issues, so no uploading from there either. Ah well.

China Town was good. You'll just have to take my word for it.

China Town

As I said, today's big adventure is to go to China Town after I take care of some conference bidness.

Elevator..TO HELL!

The hotel is giving me fucked-up dreams: most likely from the modernistic medieval feel (like a 21st century iron maiden) and its overly-spongy elevators. Even though I am on the second floor, I rode them last night to see what was at the top (not much, just more rooms) and was apparantly left with some sort of forboding at their operation. By the time 3:00 am rolled around, I was startled awake in a sweat because I had dreamed that I was on an elevator with Uma Thurman and Kate Beckinsale which once reaching the top of the building, acted like a roller coaster and dropped precipitously down the shaft. It dropped so quickly, I guess, that we were thrown back in time and ended up in 14th century England. I woke up before it became Army of Darkness.

Union Square is where all the stores I'll never shop at are. The Macy's has a dragon on the front.

Tomorrow: China Town.

The Room

The Room

The room is about what I expected: overwraught. I'm not sure if it will be like sleeping in a half-assed "chic" art museum or....

...a meat locker. The light is one of those industrial kinds; like the ones in student dorms. Perhpas it is having one's own personal dorm with blue carpet and way too much metal.

At least the hotel is in a pretty happening spot; there are lots of people on the street...
